Now open in Capitol Hill, a Caribbean-inspired coffee shop rooted in community, warmth, and rhythm.

El Cerro is a coffee shop, first and foremost. We serve 100% single-origin Puerto Rican coffee, classic espresso drinks, and Caribbean-inspired house drinks in a boho-tropical space shaped by Puerto Rican and Caribbean energy, with a small selection of plant-based baked goods to go alongside your cup.

Our coffee is grown in the misty, high-elevation mountains of Puerto Rico, where the climate gives the beans a layered sweetness and notes of roasted cacao, stone fruit, and tobacco bark.

Everything in the shop is plant-based, from the coffee program to the baked goods we offer alongside it. Our pastries come from La Antillana, a Puerto Rican baker based in Seattle, and Pika Pantry, bringing Seattle makers and Caribbean flavors together in one welcoming space.

The Space

A boho-tropical atmosphere made for slowing down, listening, staying a while, and gathering with neighbors.

The room is designed to feel warm and layered, with boho and tropical touches that echo the energy of the Caribbean, with relaxed textures, curated decor, and the kind of soundtrack that makes you want to linger. Tropical music from the Caribbean plays through the space, adding to the mood as coffee is poured and neighbors settle in.

El Cerro is built on community. We host events, artist collaborations, tasting sessions, and quiet gatherings that feel more like a salon than a schedule, with the same roots as the coffee: heritage, craft, and shared curiosity.

Our retail offerings are small and intentional, fresh beans, handcrafted ceramics, and goods that let guests take the hill home without losing the thoughtful tone of the place.
